diversified financial services company providing investment, accounting/tax,
philanthropic, and strategic planning services to high net worth families seeks
a Senior Staff Accountant to complement its exceptional finance department.
This highly creative organization provides extraordinary service to meet the
very particular needs of its exacting and demanding clients. Working in the
style of private bankers and trust officers, the organization is relied upon to
provide independent advice and to protect long-term interests of clients as they
navigate the transaction driven world of asset management.
The finance department coordinates outsourced services from world-class law and
accounting firms with internal tax/accounting staff. This combined professional
team provides comprehensive, multi-generational tax planning, filing, management
services for income, gift/estate, and sales tax issues for individuals, trusts,
investment partnerships, nonprofits, and operating companies. This
intimately-sized organization maintains an exceptional personal service focus
while delivering outstanding technical expertise through its world-class team of
professionals.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Senior Staff Accountant performs most
responsibilities with a minimum amount of supervision and is able to make
decisions on all general course accounting matters, act on input and advice from
supervisors, and direct supporting staff to employ methods that will accomplish
objectives. This position involves accounting and financial reporting and
analysis for investment partnerships and business entities. The Senior Staff
Accountant supports oversight of the completion of ledger accounts and financial
statements and the evaluation and improvement of internal accounting processes
ensuring that practices and organizational goals are aligned. This position also
provides support to the Controller relative to accounting for larger business
entities and the preparation of personal financial statements for clients such
as business owners and investors. Knowledge of accrual basis accounting for
corporations and partnerships, investment accounting, QuickBooks and Quicken
accounting software, and payroll processing is required. Early morning, evening
and weekend work is required at times throughout the year as needed.

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance
or related field

CPA eligible with commitment to pursue
certification, or CPA license or Advanced Degree preferred

Minimum of 2-5 years recent accounting
experience

Proficiency in accounting software
including QuickBooks and/or Quicken

Strong working knowledge of accounting
systems and controls including payroll regulations

Knowledge of basic individual and
corporate tax preferred

Proficiency with technology including
common office software and ability to learn new computer programs quickly
